Hello you. This is a blog… read it?

So up first, how many books did I read this week. Looks like 5. Not bad. A cozy murder mystery. A couple of cultivation books. An isekai rpg, and a farming lit rpg. Fun.

Well, we watched some movies. Now Samantha has said she’d seen it before, but because I’ve heard it was over the top, we watched it. Death Wish 3. The movie goes by really quickly. There’s no time for story, just death and revenge. Don’t do anything bad in front of this man, he’ll just shoot you. Oh, and yeah, a rocket launcher does make an appearance. This movie is basically a Boomer’s wet dream. It was amusing, but I’ll never say good. However, the music in the film was rather moody, and I liked it. Turns out Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin fame did the music. Awesome. So yeah, don’t go into this thinking it’s a think piece, it’s just blowing up minorities who are portrayed as gang members. Oh yeah, Alex Winters is in this movie. That’s Bill from Bill and Ted.

So we then watched Night of the Comet. I’d been hesitant in watching this movie because it’s basically a zombie film… but it’s more an apocalypse movie. Anyway, a comet shows up, people disappear overnight, and those that remain and were exposed turn into zombies. A couple of sisters seem to have survived and not have been affected, and they head into town. Amusing to me is that the actor that played Chakotay in Star Trek Voyager is here playing a truck driver that hasn’t been affected either. Some of the lines in the film are amusing, and while there are moments of dread and loss, it on the whole is rather fun. I’d recommend it.
As for writing, I did well enough. I think I’ve changed the scope a bit from what I was originally hoping for, yet what I’ve written remains as a part of the whole. This will make the book longer… yay.

That’s all I have for now. I hope you have a great week.

A Real Men, Crazy Summer

Hello there. Welcome back to the blog

Up first, how many books did I finish since last time? That’s be five books. A couple of fool books, and then some more Cozy Murder Mysteries for me. I’m rather dull I suppose, but I enjoy what I enjoy.

As for movies, first up I had us watch something called Real Men. Staring James Belushi and John Ritter. Apparently the dull John Ritter is needed for an operation as he looks like a recently killed agent. So James Belushi goes and grabs him and forces him to come with him. Wacky antics happen, some that you will never expect if you don’t look up the movie. So go in blind, it was a great trip.

Then we watched One Crazy Summer. After graduating high school, Hoops hopes to enter Rhode Island School of Design, but is struggling to complete his application. His friend then invites him to Nantucket for the summer to help him relax. Wacky shenanigans ensue. We’d both seen this movie long ago, and while I remembered only one thing, Samantha had better recollection of the movie. It was fun, and special in that some things are just out of left field now and again. I recommend it.

Otherwise I wrote. It went well. That is all.

Have a great week.

Earth Girls are Easy

Howdy folks. Again a blog… what? Yup

So up first how much I read since last week. I finished reading 3 books since last time we spoke. Meh. I found some good stuff, but it was long. Oh well. I enjoyed what I finished, and I’m in book two of the Mark of the Fool right now.

So we did watch another movie this weekend. Earth Girls are Easy is a comedic musical. Uh, for whatever reason I never recall it being a musical, but since Samantha said she’d never seen it I had to show it to her. So it’s about 3 aliens who crash on Earth after looking for girls. They meet a nice lady who is having relationship issues with her fiancé as he keeps cheating on her. After shaving the aliens these guys are “hot”. Fun times ensue. I liked it, Samantha was not as thrilled with the film. I like the esthetic I guess. I say give it a chance.

As for writing, I did some work this week. It went well, and while I spent some effort doing edits, I also did quite a bit of writing. Things are going well.

That’s all I have for you this time. Have a great week.

Nothing Much… Trans…formers

Howdy again. Looks like I’ll be writing up another blog. Let’s see what I talk about.

Hrm, well first up is my reading. Since last time I posted I finished 9 books. Yay? Sure. I found another Cozy Murder Mystery series that I’m enjoying. It’s called Sweet Cove Mysteries. They’re pretty good, and has a bit of magic, but not a huge amounts. Mostly just magical feelings about things. Certainly cozy though. The first one didn’t drag me in, but as they are all rather short you kinda get hooked on them rather quickly. Other than that, I finished up the Dragon Heart novel, loved it. Though for whatever reason, while not short, they always feel short to me. And then two other novels by authors I’ve read before that were decent.

Now watching things… hrm. I’ve been desperately trying to find something to replace Doc Martin for me. So with that in mind I attempted a little show called Heartbeat. About a small town cop in England during the 60’s. I made it through the first episode, and a little into the second… it didn’t hook me. Perhaps I’m just not in the right frame of mind for anything new, but I’m not feeling it. I also tried Warehouse 13, again, decent, and I made it through several episodes, but I’m not hooked. I’m getting kinda anxious that I’ll never find anything good as Doc Martin, Kingdom, or Hamish MacBeth. Oh well.

I’ve also been slowly making my way through all of UltraPrimal’s, on YouTube, back catalogue. She does episode by episode reviews of a bunch of Transformer shows. I’ve completed Beastwars, The OG from the 80’s and it’s movie, and Animated. She’s a ton of fun, and I highly recommend her if you are interested in learning about the extended Transformers universe. She’s Trans, and it comes up at times, so if you’ve got issues with that stay clear and don’t be an ass. My own opinions about people who are Trans is complicated, but what I will say is, and I find is my universal stance on most things, “Your Body, Your Choice.” Let people decide what they want to do for themselves, even if you don’t agree with them. Ain’t your body, ain’t your life.

Anyway, did some writing. Nothing much really though. I wound up with less time that I’d hoped for, but I was able to eek out a little time.

Welp, that’s all I have for you this time. I hope you all have a great week.

Dragon Ball Movies and Young Einstein

If you’d like to help support my coffee addiction, and get my blog post as they are written, please think about donating to my Patreon page. You’ll get my blog post a few weeks early there. Thank you. https://www.patreon.com/StevenOaks

Hello all. A blog post for ya… cool right?

Alrighty then, I read books. I finished 4 since last week. Some good stuff there. I’m currently working on the latest Dragon Heart cultivation book from a Russian author. I love this series so much, and I’m always ready for more.

So, Samantha and I watched some movies over the weekend. The first 3 were movies from the Dragon Ball series. The first one itself was Sleeping Princess in Devil’s Castle. This movie was fine. I liked it well enough, and there was a line that I particularly liked, though that may only appear in the dub. The evil lord calls upon his people to hold hands, and offer a moment of silence for what they are about to do… which is blow up the Sun… so yeah, Hilarious.

We next watched Mystical Adventure. This one was quite good, and had a similar hilarious line which comes from Launch, “I suddenly have a strong urge to hijack this plane.”

And third of the Dragon ball films we watched Curse of the Blood Rubies. Sadly, while I had enjoyed it long in the past, this time I didn’t feel as connected with the film. Not much to say really. As with the other two films they retell a little of what happened in the Television series, but add a side plot that coincides with what is going on. Basically, if you want a quick and dirty way to watch Dragon Ball up to the first tournament the movies got you mostly covered. But for me, and Samantha, the filler sometimes is the best part. Skip at your own risk.

So next up I had us watch the movie Young Einstein. Staring, written by, and directed by Yahoo Serious, an Australian born man, the movie is about a fictionalized Albert Einstein who splits the atom so as to make beer bubbly. I found it fun when I was younger, and to my eyes it still holds up. Samantha claimed she enjoyed it as well, and in general she’s not shy in saying where things aren’t good. So while it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s one that I enjoyed.

As for writing, things went well enough. I added a bit more to the book, so there’s that. Otherwise things are still trucking along.

Welp, that’s all I have for you this week. I hope you all have a great one.
