Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

Hello all, I’m back.

So I got my new card, and it works. I was able to purchase gas and things I needed, so I’m glad that’s over with for now. That was a bit of a hassle, and now I figure I’ll keep a bit of cash on hand just in case. You never know when it’ll happen again, and I don’t want to be stranded somewhere with an empty tank. Then again I usually fill up when I have a fourth of a tank left, so at least I’m prepared now.

And just a quick update on 18if. This latest episode was pretty good, so I hope that means it’ll continue to be a good show, even if some episodes aren’t great.

Now to review that Korean drama that I’ve been teasing for awhile. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. At first I wasn’t sure about this show. It was over the top, as one might expect, but there wasn’t too much drama as our main protagonist was way over powered. But as the show gets going things start happening. Yes there’s romance, or at least the expectation of one, but that isn’t a problem for me. I love love stories, especially if they’re over the top and funny, and this show has that in spades. But there’s also kidnappings happening, and boy is it disturbing. Even at least one person is killed brutally, and it’s depressing. The whole town is frightened, but things build to an ending with the bad guy. There are other so called “Bad Guys” but they are jokes compared to Do Bong Soon. Lots of interesting characters, and origin stories. I give it an 8/10. Give it a watch. Still nothing compared to Goblin, but a good show. It kind of reminds me of Diamond is Unbreakable in the JoJo universe. Creepy, but funny at the same time.

Not too much else to say at this time, so I’ll leave you with that. Have a great week, see you next time.

A week of no money

Hello all. I’m back as I said I would be. Now to the hardest part of my writing week, talking about things.

I don’t mean I have any dark and secretive thing to discuss, merely that sometimes talking about myself is difficult. I don’t live the most interesting life, I merely like writing things in story form better, and my life as a story is mostly me reading and learning. That’s not something that I expect anyone to have interest in.

So what have I done? Well I went a week without being able to spend money. My card got compromised and I had to wait for a new one to show up. It was embarrassing when I tried to buy some groceries and it refused to authorize. I mean I had money and all, but here I was looking like I couldn’t take care of such a simple matter. I feel bad that it took so long for me to acknowledge that it wasn’t just that my card couldn’t be read. I called my bank as soon as it was opened and they explained that there was a strange charge to a charity. I said “Yeah, that wasn’t me”, and luckily it hadn’t gone through, but that was very strange. I don’t think anything like that has every happened to me before in all my years of using a card and not just cash to pay for things. Haven’t had the chance to use my new card yet, we’ll see if I can get some gas here shortly.

Other than that I’ve just been watching anime like usual. I was really liking a show called 18if, but this latest episode left me feeling perhaps I made a mistake in liking it so much. It changed art style, which is fine since most of the story takes place in other people’s dreams, but it felt as though it lost the edge this last couple of episodes. It was dark, scary, and filled with some creepy scenarios. But now it’s like, nah, let’s be silly and weird. I still love the intro song. It captures that disturbing vibe that I got with the first few episodes, and I’ll always recommend watching those, but here we are with silly little stories instead of it being a moody drama about how people deal with traumatic events. It felt it went childish when it should have gone with something more adult, though it was another tragic story, but it didn’t feel fleshed out enough. It went more fairy tale instead of realistic. Which I mean I guess is okay because like I’ve said it’s all about dreams, but it didn’t match previous tones. In the end I’ll probably keep watching until the series is over, but it didn’t give me the same moody feeling as previous episodes.

I still haven’t completed the Korean drama I was watching, but I am still interested. I think I’ve only two episodes left of it, and it’s still good. So maybe I’ll be done here in the next week, I just need to give myself time.

As for writing, it’s going well. We’re getting near the end, and we need to start thinking about writing the final confrontation with things. We’ll see how that goes as there is only a couple of more scenes that need writing, but we have discussed what those should be. It’s just a matter of getting our characters there from where they are now. I am liking how I’m constructing a scene these days, and the co-author does a very good job and making them even better, and at writing their own material.

That’s it for this week’s update. TTFN, ta-ta for now.

Guardians of the Galaxy Quest

Hi. I’m back again. Let’s see what I have to say.

To be honest it was a busy week, and there was some lack of sleep. However I’m not completely free to say all that happened. That’s up to others. This of course means I’m a bit lacking in anything to talk about.

I will say though that I watched Galaxy Quest again. It still is the best Star Trek movie out there. It completely encapsulates everything that people enjoyed about the original series, and also illustrates the fandom. Such a good movie, and can only be improved by watching it on the big screen. I say this because the aspect ratio changes as the movie goes on, and really drags you into things.

Another thing I watched was the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I liked it. I can see why some might not, it didn’t feel as world buidlingly fun as the first, though there were many new people. But I really enjoyed everyone returning, and even the new way we got to see a certain returning individual. However there was something off about the humor, and I’ve yet to get my finger on why. Perhaps it’s simply because it wasn’t as new feeling as the original, but I’ll still stick around to see the next one.

In the end that’s about all I can talk about, save the writing is going very well.

See you all next time, have a great week.

Another week, and random thoughts

Greetings. I have returned!

Not much to speak on really, but I’ll update you on one thing.

So I re-downloaded Wool, and it finally cleared up the missing pages, and I was able to get the full experience with all the art that was meant to be included. I finished the omnibus, and I can say it was okay. Not the best thing I’ve ever read, but it was an interesting world and it got better over time. The first part wasn’t my favorite, but when it got to the main story I can say I began to devour it rapidly.

That being said I’ve thought up a few new idea’s for books. Dreams of different realities, and my mind mixing all the idea’s from shows I’ve watched from the past wanting to make even better stories filled my mind while I attempted sleep. Not much in them for this current book I’m writing, but it’s still nice to get these flashes of thoughts.

It was my birthday over the weekend, and while I received many birthday greetings, not much in the way of celebration happened. It was just another couple of days off for me. I did my usual of watching a movie or two, and even picked up another South Korean drama on the way. Not nearly as good as Goblin, though it so far has less slow parts. It reminds me a bit of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Diamond is Unbreakable. I’ll talk about it more when I’m done with it, so perhaps next week as I’m more than halfway through it already.

The current book continues, and I’m rather fond of the way it’s being written. I think it reads better than some of my previous work, so at least to my own eyes I’m getting better with each day as I write. Perhaps one day I’ll be able to focus just on writing, but until then I suppose I’ll just keep up with whatever job I have at the time.

Have another great week. I’ll see you next time.
