Moved

I hope to have Internet by the 10th of October. Forgive my absence. Please feel free to continue reading my books. I’m still editing my latest book. Also my new job is fun but hard. The pay is helping!

The trials of Moving

Forgive my absence. I’ve been rather busy getting ready to move. With packing, and doing all the paperwork needed to ensure utilities for the new place, and cancelling them for the old place I’ve not been doing much work on the book.

Yesterday was really busy. I had to call electric, gas, and insurance companies because the apartment requires confirmation they are in place before moving in. It took most of the day, but I got it done before I signed.

Tomorrow I shall have to get a truck. I’ll likely be alone in loading it, and unloading, so I’m not really looking forward to it. I just hope I don’t take too long doing it. I want this done and over with as soon as possible.

The one down side to moving is I may not have internet for a while. So this may be the last post for some time. That and I may be starting a job soon. I’ll strive to continue to work on this latest book, but it will be slower going. The blog may be once a week once the internet is back up, but I’m unsure how things will go. Who knows, maybe I’ll want to write after work each day. Stranger things have happened.

Suffice it to say, I did some editing today. Reading through this particular section has left me drained. Not that there were many errors, but more because it’s a very emotional scene. Reading it aloud in the voices of the characters had me in tears. It was rough, but I got through it.

Now I must go and finish packing and getting rid of things that I don’t want. Wish me luck!

Update: I reviewed most of a chapter yesterday, and finished it along with most of another today. I like these people I made.

Almost Moving Time

Not much time remains for the place I have called home for many years. My house is sold, and now I must travel to another realm. Well, at least another city. So far finding a place has been a bit of a trial, but I think I’m okay now. Just waiting on hearing back from the application process. The long holiday weekend didn’t help this, but by the end of today things may be finalized.

All the while I’ve been trying to finish all the paper work I need for a new job. It’s all been remote, which I find strange since I’ll be at an actual physical company. However, they use a third-party to verify all information. So I’ve had to print out all documents, sign them, and then either fax it back, or email it.

Currently I had to locate my own I9 agent to verify in person my credentials of my US citizenship. I had never heard of such a thing, so I called them to verify that was correct, and to seek some guidance. So after some words of advice, I selected someone. I hope to see them later today, and be done with this. I just want to start working.

Speaking of working, I’m still going through my latest book. Sadly I’m unable to have my editors look at anything currently. We’ve some conflicts that won’t allow such a thing at this time, but I’m still doing my own thing with it. I’ll want them to review it before I publish, so we’ll have to wait. If I can’t find another editor in the mean time, it may be some time until this book is published. While I trust my own eyes for certain things, it’s better to have another, if not several more eyes review what you write.

Update: A chapter reviewed. That’s right, this book has chapters!

“I have learned that if you must leave a place that you have lived in and loved and where all your yesteryears are buried deep, leave it any way except a slow way, leave it the fastest way you can. Never turn back and never believe that an hour you remember is a better hour because it is dead. Passed years seem safe ones, vanquished ones, while the future lives in a cloud, formidable from a distance.”

The Mind

Deep inside your mind

You reach out and probe

You can touch each part of your body

and gain control

The heart beat

The breath pumping

your blood flow

time pounding away

You can freeze yourself in the moment

The day will disappear

and all you will know

is what you hear

The sound of your thoughts

The images of your past

all merge together

to create a new path

What will be

what can be

reside in the illusion of thought

the musing of the day

the dreams of the night

All together forming you

the you that is not of the body

the you that is of the mind

You exist only here

all else is illusion

We can replace everything else

but your mind cannot be

So consume healthy ideas

foster no ill will

else it’ll fester

leaving yourself ill

Update: Going through the book again, this time alone. Also worked on the ending a bit more. Not much to change, but I like reading it aloud.

Moving on

Maybe I should have just finished the draft Monday. I only wrote a few hundred more words today to end it, along with going through the entirety of the book with spell and grammar check. Not much to change on that front, but it did take time.

The reason I held off on writing more was because I was unsure if I was going to write an epilogue. I’m still unsure, but I don’t think I need to write anymore. I’ll ask the editors when I get the chance, and when they catch up.

In other news I’ve just sold my house. I’ll have to be moved out in a couple of weeks, and that is stressful. I spent a couple of hours packing away things I don’t use everyday, and I may go on and do more today. As a side note, it’s hard to find apartments. At least ones that I could afford on a writers income. It’s rather sporadic, so of course I’m looking for steady work. That too can be difficult it seems in this economic climate.

However, there have been a few places that seem appropriate, and it will be decided shortly whether or not I’ll move there. I’m not a huge fan of living in a large city, but it will be closer to jobs. I hope that assist in finding a place to work, even if it’s only part-time. I do miss the comradery you get when you work with a team, so perhaps I’ll find a suitable environment shortly.

It’s exciting to move. As a child it was nearly every other year, but I’ve been in this house for at least 5 or 6 years. It’s strange to think it’ll be gone soon. My son lived here, so I’m a little sad to see it go. But he’s in my heart always, so it’s not like I’m losing him again. I’ll just have to adjust to living in apartment again. I haven’t done that for nearly 10 years, so we’ll see how I do.

Moving will also make editing more difficult, but I’m hopeful that this book might be finished in the next couple of months, if not sooner. Wish me luck!
