Howdy folks. Yet another week has passed, and I’m here again. Yay?
Anyway, update on books read, only 5 this time. I blame the fact that a few were twice as long as I usually read. But the quality was well worth it. The only sad bit is that that all but two are looking for a sequel yet to be finished. Ah well, I suppose I’ll have to wait. What else can I do? However they all left me excited for more, so there’s that.
Hmm, what else was there? Um, I watched Stargate again. The movie that is. I’ve seen it several times, as back in the day my parents had a copy on VHS, so it was one of my go to’s. As is the case with everyone, I spent a good half hour or so looking for something to watch, and nothing struck my fancy. But seeing Stargate continuously show up in different categories, it just called to me. I remember seeing it in the theater. I went there with my mother, we’d do this now and again, and it was so crowded that I think we must have found the last two seats next to each other. Front row seats. I’ve never done that before, and let me tell you my neck informed me that I would never do that again, heh. Anyway, I thought it was great, and you know what? I still do. Never mind the series that came after, SG1 is fantastic and all, but this is where it all started. Now when it starts getting towards the end there’s a ton of subtitles because they are speaking “Ancient Egyptian”, and I feel it kinda takes away from it a bit, even if I read subtitles all the time, but all in all what a wonderful film. Directed and written by Roland Emmerich, who also did Independence Day, and that Godzilla movie with Mathew Broderich. That kinda blew my mind as I felt Stargate was a much smarter film than any of his others. Now I’m not going to sit here and tell you it’s a masterpiece, but boy howdy is it a good time. Give it a watch if you’ve not before. And then binge SG1, fantastic!
Started watching BNA, Brand New Animal, on Netflix. So far it’s pretty good, but who knows if it’ll keep it up. I can already see it becoming a zany show, as the baseball episode was a bit wacky, but it’s Studio Trigger, what else should I expect. It’s about a girl, human, who suddenly finds herself transformed into a beastman, who are up until this point born that way already. They are all segregated into their own city, and she makes her way there hoping to find a cure. All the while avoiding roving gangs of anti-beastmen humans just to make it to the city. The tone bounces around from semi-serious to wacky, like I’ve mentioned, but that’s kinda what the studio is known for. I couldn’t get into Gurren Lagann after a certain point, episode 8, though I did watch a few more episodes. But I actually liked Kill La Kill quite a bit. So I’ll give this one a chance to wow me.
Else-wise I’ve been writing. Reading has helped me come up with new ideas, and I put that into practice today. I liked it, and I’ll keep it up. Of course to me this means I’ve got a bit more I can play with, and I might just go back and add a bit more to the story because of it. I’m rather excited by the notion I’ve come up with, so go me.
Anyway, that’s about all I have for this time. I hope you all have a great week.
